Why Did Europe Become More Technologically Advanced?

When I travel anywhere and study different cultures, since to me it's always interesting how history plays such a role in almost every culture. That is probably truer in Europe than nearly everywhere, as even though there had been so much destruction in Europe during the 20th century, you can still see history everywhere.
